Promotion to partner is only the beginning — but too often, the rules for success are left vague. New partners hear “build your practice” or “be a leader,” yet the only hard measure they see is their billable hours. This lack of clarity breeds frustration, slows development, and increases the risk of burnout or disengagement.

In this Forum, we’ll dig into how firms can define success for new partners in clear, practical terms that go beyond billables. We’ll explore what metrics matter — leadership, collaboration, business development, mentoring — and how to make them visible and actionable. Participants will share what’s working (and not working) in their firms, leaving with ideas to build clearer scorecards and stronger support systems for rising partners.

Please come prepared to share what you’ve seen work well, what didn’t work so well, and where you currently need support. Our goal is to crowdsource specific ideas that will help everyone!
