FROM LEGAL EXPERTISE TO PEOPLE LEADERSHIP

Being a strong lawyer
is only part of the job.

LeadWise Group provides leadership and management training for lawyers who supervise others, lead teams, or carry responsibility for a practice. We help firms build the skills behind clearer expectations, better delegation, useful feedback, and consistent follow-through.

Lawyers often take on these responsibilities while managing demanding client work. Training gives them a shared approach to leading people and managing work, with practical tools they can use on their next assignment, team meeting, or performance conversation.

WHO IT’S FOR

For lawyers whose work
depends on other people.

01

Partners & counsel

Strengthen how experienced lawyers direct work, develop associates, address performance concerns, and balance team leadership with client responsibilities.

02

Senior associates & aspiring partners

Prepare lawyers who increasingly supervise assignments or coordinate teams to delegate effectively, communicate expectations, and lead with greater confidence.

03

Practice group & office leaders

Build the management skills needed to align lawyers around priorities, facilitate productive discussions, navigate competing interests, and support execution.

WHAT THE TRAINING COVERS

Skills for the conversations
and decisions that shape a team.

We select and combine topics around your lawyers’ roles, experience, and development needs.

Set clear expectations

Define the outcome, quality standards, timing, roles, and communication needed before work begins. Surface assumptions early and check for shared understanding.

Delegate & develop others

Choose what to delegate, match assignments to experience, provide the right support, and create learning opportunities while maintaining accountability.

Give feedback & address performance

Make feedback specific and useful. Recognize effective work, discuss gaps, and handle difficult conversations with clarity and respect.

Manage priorities & practice execution

Translate priorities into workable plans. Improve coordination, meetings, workload conversations, and follow-through when client demands compete.

Communicate & work across differences

Adapt communication, listen more effectively, manage disagreements, and work with colleagues whose styles or perspectives differ from your own.

Lead with influence & accountability

Build commitment in a partnership environment, make sound decisions, guide change, and follow up on agreed actions without relying solely on formal authority.

HOW WE WORK WITH YOUR FIRM

A focused workshop.
Or a broader development program.

The format follows the need. Training can be delivered in person or virtually, for a defined cohort, a practice group, or lawyers from across the firm.

01

Interactive workshops

Address a specific capability through discussion, practical exercises, and realistic law firm scenarios. Participants work with tools they can use immediately.

02

Multi-session programs

Build related skills over time, with opportunities to apply the learning between sessions, compare experiences with peers, and revisit challenges.

03

Training with reinforcement

Combine workshops with individual or group coaching, assessments, feedback, or follow-up conversations when additional support would help lawyers apply the learning.

BUILT AROUND YOUR PRACTICE

Make the learning
relevant to the work.

Start with the behavior you want to change.

We discuss the participants, the situations they face, and what your firm wants them to do more effectively. That might mean clearer assignment handoffs, earlier feedback, stronger team coordination, or better follow-through on practice priorities.

Practice with recognizable situations.

A partner receives work that misses the mark. A senior associate keeps taking delegated work back. A team avoids a difficult performance conversation. We use practical situations to connect concepts with choices lawyers can make differently.

Agree on what progress should look like.

Depending on the engagement, progress can be reviewed through participant action plans, follow-up discussions, feedback from colleagues, or examples of changes in day-to-day work. Measures and follow-up are agreed with your firm.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Planning leadership training
for your lawyers.

What is the difference between leadership and management training?

Management training focuses on directing work and supporting performance: expectations, delegation, feedback, priorities, and accountability. Leadership training develops how lawyers create direction, influence others, build commitment, and guide change. Most lawyer leadership roles require both.

How does training differ from executive coaching?

Training develops defined skills through structured learning and practice, often with a group. Coaching focuses on an individual’s goals and real situations, helping them examine choices and apply new approaches. We can combine the two when that fits the firm’s needs.

Can the training be tailored to our firm?

Yes. We shape the topics, examples, exercises, and format around the participants’ responsibilities and the priorities discussed with your firm. A new-partner cohort may need a different emphasis from experienced practice leaders or senior associates.

Do you offer virtual and in-person training?

Yes. Workshops and programs can be delivered virtually or in person. We discuss the audience, location, scheduling needs, and opportunities for interaction before recommending a format.

Do we need a full multi-session program, or can we start with one topic?

Either approach is possible. A focused workshop can address a defined need, such as delegation or feedback. A multi-session program offers more room to build connected skills and support application over time. The scope and schedule are agreed with your firm.
